Bilstein unveils new motorsport Porsche damper

The damper is available as both a circuit and Nordschleife version for the following models:
- Porsche 997 GT3 RSR
- Porsche 997 GT3 Cup
- Porsche 997 GT3 Cup-S
- Porsche 997 GT3 R
In upside-down configuration the outer tube of the front suspension damper is manufactured from high-quality aluminium alloy. The previous damper, when compared with the competition, was already a lightweight unit. Thanks to further development it was possible to reduce the weight again by 0.7 kg per damper.
Performance advantages:
- Weight reduction of 0.7 kg per front damper
- Front suspension unsprung mass reduced by 1.4 kg
- Improved heat dissipation thanks to aluminium outer tube
For the above mentioned performance increase the following possibilities are available for BILSTEIN customers:
- Porsche front suspension damper as complete damper with aluminium outer tube
- Replacement of steel outer tube for aluminium during a routine overhaul

BILSTEIN has constantly pushed development of the Porsche damper over the previous six years. During this period 24 overall victories were achieved with BILSTEIN Porsche dampers in the VLN Nürburgring, the 2007 and 2009 Grand AM GT Championship in the USA. The winning car in the 2009 24-hour race in Dubai was also equipped with BILSTEIN dampers.
